SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT
ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
This session will address different techniques that can be
used to investigate accidents, determine the causes, and develop
corrective actions. The accident investigation techniques will
include change analysis, barrier analysis, events and casual
factors analysis, fault tree analysis, root cause analysis,
computer software, and accident reconstruction. The attendees will
be able to use these techniques to analyze accidents and prevent
future ones from occurring.
CONFINED SPACE
Designed to meet the specifications of the OSHA Standard
29 CFR 1926.21(b)(6)(i) on confined space entry, this course will
give the student the skills necessary to enter and work inside a
confined space such as a manhole, tank, pit, or similar enclosure.
Our goal in this course is to equip the student to work safely -
not simply to meet the minimum required by OSHA. In order to do so,
we combine classroom discussion and demonstration of the typical
equipment needed to perform the entry.
DRUG & ALCOHOL AWARENESS FOR SUPERVISORS
This course focuses on the management of alcohol and drugs
in the workplace. It discusses the issues related to drug and
alcohol abuse that the employees may encounter while at work. It
also provides suggestions on how employers can reduce the risk to
the employees' safety and productivity.
FALL PROTECTION/LADDER SAFETY
This course gives you a basic understanding about OSHA's
role in prevention and elimination of work-related illnesses and
injuries. The OSHA standard identifies areas or activities where
fall protection is needed. It clarifies what an employer must do to
provide fall protection for employees, such as identifying and
evaluating fall hazards and providing training. Under the standard,
employers are able to select fall protection measures compatible
with the type of work being performed.
FLAGGER CERTIFICATION & TRAINING
The flagger on a construction project is an extremely
important link between the traveling public and actual street and
highway construction operation. The ability to communicate
effectively is critical to the safety of travelers, as well as the
various work crews and is the focus of this course. Students will
learn about their responsibilities as a flagger and how to identify
problems related to flagger safety, as well as proper flagging
equipment, proper hand signal procedures, flagging positions and
more. This course meets the requirements of the Texas Department of
Transportation specification item 502.
HAZARD COMMUNICATION
The Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) provides
information to workers and employers about various chemical hazards
that exist in the workplace and what protective measures they can
take in order to prevent the adverse effects of such hazards. This
course gives you a basic understanding of how to deal with
hazardous chemicals and how workers can prevent and protect
themselves from fatal chemical hazards.
HAZARDOUS WASTE SITE SAFETY: 40-HOUR HAZWOPER
This course is specifically designed for workers who are
involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations,
emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment
of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.
Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination
of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment, and
OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR
1910.120.
HAZARDOUS WASTE SITE SAFETY: HAZWOPER REFRESHER
This course meets the requirements in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120
for eight (8) hours of annual refresher training for workers at
hazardous waste sites. This course is designed for general site
workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or
potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards.
Topics include HAZWOPER regulations, safety and health plans,
hazardous chemicals, safety hazards, air monitoring, medical
surveillance, site control, decontamination, personal protective
equipment, and respiratory equipment.
OSHA 10-HOUR CONSTRUCTION SAFETY & HEALTH
COURSE
This course is designed for construction workers, foremen,
job supervisors, and anyone involved in the construction industry.
OSHA recommends Outreach Training Program courses as an orientation
to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29
CFR 1926. Workers must receive additional training, when required
by OSHA standards, on the specific hazards of the job. Upon
successful completion of the course, participants will receive an
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach Department of Labor course
completion card.
OSHA 10-HOUR GENERAL INDUSTRY SAFETY/HEALTH COURSE
This course is ideal for supervisors with safety and
health responsibilities and for employee safety and health
awareness. Students will be introduced to OSHA policies, procedures
and standards, as well as general industry safety and health
principles covered in OSHA Act Part 1910. Special emphasis will be
placed on areas most hazardous using OSHA standards as a guide.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive
an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach Department of Labor
course completion card.
POWERED INDUSTRIAL FORKLIFT CERTIFICATION
This course will cover the Powered Industrial Trucks
Standard 29 CFR 1910.178. This standard impacts all industries that
use trucks, except for agricultural operators. Topics in this
course will include OSHA standards, ANSI standards, mechanics of
the forklift, load handling procedures, and much more. Upon
completion of this course, students will have gained knowledge of
mandatory requirements and will be capable of passing a written and
driving evaluation test. Upon successful completion, each student
will be forklift certified. Benton & Associates will provide a
laminated, wallet-sized certificate that will be valid for three
years.
TRENCHING AND EXCAVATION (COMPETENT PERSON)
Trenching and excavation is some of the most dangerous
work in the construction industry, but can be safe with some basic
training. Each trenching or excavation work site has to have an
individual who is a competent person. This course covers: sloping,
benching, shoring and trench shields, how to inspect for potential
cave-ins, hazardous atmospheres, and underground installations. We
demonstrate how an employee can be injured and how easily this can
be prevented. This class includes soil testing and
classifications.
WORK ZONE SAFETY
This course will provide instruction on safe practices and
procedures in a roadway construction work zone. Students will learn
how to identify and manage potentially hazardous situations and
conditions. The course will also help students understand factors
that influence safe and unsafe conditions in the work zone.
Students will also be introduced to the various types of traffic
control devices for the work zone and how they function along with
traffic control plans to protect both workers and the traveling
public. Upon completion of the course, the student will have a
better understanding of safe practices and procedures and also the
need for increased awareness while working in a roadway
construction work zone.
