CONSTRUCTION TRADES
BASIC AIR
CONDITIONING
An introduction to the residential air conditioning
industry. Classroom instruction in basic refrigeration theory,
terminology, schematics, and tools. Inspection of motors, belts,
pulleys, and other air handling components. Lab instruction in
installation, system charging and wiring.
BASIC HEATING
An introduction to central heating and the study of the procedures
and principles used in servicing gas and electric heating systems.
Classroom instruction in heat transfer, the combustion process,
tools, terminology, venting, controls, ignition systems and safety.
Lab instruction includes gas and electric heating.
BASIC HVAC ELECTRICAL
An introduction to electricity as required for HVACR applications.
Instruction in basic electrical theory, safety, tools, reading
schematic and ladder diagrams, circuits, low voltage controls and
troubleshooting.
ADVANCED AIR CONDITIONING
A study of components, applications, and installation of air
conditioning systems with capacities of 25 tons or less. Apply and
describe the sequence of operation for commercial air conditioning
systems and their accessories; demonstrate knowledge of components
relative to commercial air conditioning.
HVAC SYSTEM DESIGN
Residential and Light Commercial Air Conditioning system design
dealing with the importance of heating and cooling load
calculations, duct system design, and proper equipment sizing. How
each affects the other in operation, efficiency and life
expectancy. This course is designed for Contractors, Managers,
Technicians and sales people with a strong basic knowledge of air
conditioning and heating principles and operation.
