Commercial Music
The commercial music curriculum is designed to provide the basic skills to equip the student to work in the field of popular commercial music. The curriculum meets all requirements for the Associate of Applied Arts degree.
Faculty advisors guide
students in choosing from a broad menu of private instrument
lessons and ensemble classes. These classes are open to all SPC
students; but those seeking degrees under the Creative Arts
Department may be subject to additional curricular requirements,
including completion of a Capstone Experience.
Students seeking the Commercial Music associate degree, Commercial Music Certificate or Entertainment Business Certificate must satisfactorily participate in a full-length televised public performance (Music Festival) during their last semester in school. The students and faculty of the Creative Arts Department produce these full-length productions each semester.
Program advisors are Mickie Vasquez , program coordinator and instructor in commercial music; Lesa Wood; departmental instructor in commercial music; John Reid, instructor in commercial music.
