Programs of Study
Art

The Art program at South
Plains College offers the first two
years of a college education in studio art, commer
cial art, art education, and art history. Completion of
the program leads to an
Associate of Arts degree. For non-art majors, the program offers courses
that satisfy the degree requirements
for other fields of study. Art courses are also
open to persons who are interested in art but are not pursuing an
academic degree.
The
Art curriculum stresses a fundamental approach to art instruction.
Classes are small and students receive individual attention from
accomplished faculty. Students majoring in art undertake rigorous
training in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional design,
drawing, and art history. Elective courses may be taken in life
drawing, painting, watercolor, ceramics, and photography. The
program also offers courses for non-art majors in art appreciation
and art foundations. For specific information on the Art
curriculum, please consult the current
General Catalog.
