Application Period for January 2010 Class: September 1, 2009 - November 5, 2009
SELECTION PROCESS: A conditional acceptance
letter, pending clearance of the SPC student criminal background
(CB) and a negative drug screen (DS), will be issued when the file
is complete.
Should the CB be returned with evidence of criminal history, the student will be notified by letter that the admission has been suspended, pending receipt of a Declaratory Order from the Board of Nurse Examiners (candidate must obtain.) Student cannot be a class member until this is done!
Should the DS be returned with a positive drug screen, the student
will be denied a class position by letter.
Required Orientation (Camp DNR) and BON Background Check:
To accept the class position, the candidate MUST attend orientation (Camp DNR): July 27-28, 2010. A student who fails to attend orientation forfeits the class position. The final class roster will be determined at Camp.
Once the final class roster is determined at Camp, the roster will
be mailed to the Texas Board of Nursing (BON). When the BON has
verified the roster, each candidate will be sent an email telling
the student to be fingerprinted by L-1 for the required FBI
background check. Should the FBI background check reveal a
criminal history, the student will be notified by the BON of need
for the DO. The student forfeits the class position until the DO
has been obtained and the student’s eligibility for licensure
is determined.
Once accepted, a candidate who changes his/her mind without notifying this office will be deemed ineligible for future VNP admission. A Waiting List is maintained through the third class day. Waiting List candidates who do not receive a class position must re-apply for the next class and meet the admission criteria for that class.
