HUDV 1300-Suspension Appeal Requirement
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is the study of individual
behavior within social contexts, emphasizing cognitive, metacognitive, and psycho-social processes. Based on principles of developmental psychology, this course includes personal assessments, attitude
formation and change, interpersonal relationships, and group processes of adjustment. This course is recommended for students on academic probation and is required for students returning to college after academic suspension or by placement of the Admissions Committee.
Why am I required to take this class?
The Admissions Committee requires enrollment in HUDV 1300 because students who are placed on suspension tend to need skill-building in areas such as study skills, note-taking skills, and time management, to name a few. This course helps you better develop these areas of college success by assessing your current skills and forming positive habits.
Also, research from previous semesters shows that students on academic suspension appeal who take HUDV 1300 perform better than students who do not take HUDV 1300.
Does this course count?
Yes, HUDV 1300 is a 3-hour, college-level credit course, and it counts into your academic GPA. This class will also transfer as elective hours to most colleges, and transfers as 3 hours of freshman-level psychology credit to Texas Tech University.
THIS 3-HOUR COURSE IS PART OF YOUR COURSE HOUR LIMIT. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU ARE APPROVED FOR 12 HOURS WITH HUDV 1300, THEN YOU CAN CHOOSE 9 HOURS WITH THE HUDV 1300.
What if I drop the class?
Since this course is a requirement for your enrollment, your entire schedule can be affected if you drop the class at any time during the semester, and you can be withdrawn from all of your classes.
When is this course offered?
Please see the course availability on MySPC. Remember, you are restricted from taking any internet courses while you are on academic suspension appeal.
