2011-12 College District Tax Rate

The South Plains College Board of Regents approved a resolution setting the tax rate of $0.247950 for fiscal year 2011-12. The effective tax rate for fiscal year 2011-12 was calculated to be $0.247950. Information regarding this action taken August 11, 2011 is as follows.

On August 11, 2011, the South Plains College Board of Regents met in regular session to adopt a proposed ad valorem property tax rate of $0.247950 for fiscal year 2011-2012. Regent Bobby Neal made the motion to adopt the tax rate of $0.247950. Regent Alton "Pete" Pettiet seconded the motion. The result of the vote taken is as follows:

2010-11 College District Tax Rate

The South Plains College Board of Regents approved a resolution setting the tax rate of $0.244230 for fiscal year 2010-11. The effective tax rate for fiscal year 2010-11 was calculated to be $0.219272/$100 valuation. Information regarding this action taken August 31, 2010 is provided below.

Board Vote on Proposed Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2010-11

On August 31, 2010, the South Plains College Board of Regents met in special session to vote on a proposed ad valorem property tax rate of $0.244230 for fiscal year 2010-11. The following statement was read prior to action taken on the proposed tax rate: This tax rate will raise more tax revenues for maintenance and operations than last year's tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be raised by 11.4% and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $7.50 for the tax year. Regent James Montgomery made the motion that the property tax rate be increased by the adoption of a tax rate of $0.244230 which is effectively an 11.4% increase in the tax rate. Regent Charles Miller seconded that motion. The result of that vote is as follows:

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Revenue Increase

The South Plains College Junior College District will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 11.38%.

The first public hearing will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 5 p.m. in the Founders Room of the SPC Student Center, Levelland Campus.

The second public hearing will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 8 a.m. in the Founders Room of the SPC Student Center, Levelland Campus.

Members of the governing body voted on the proposal to consider the tax increase on August 12, 2010 as follows:

Notice of Special Meeting to Set Tax Rate for 2010-2011

The South Plains College Board of Regents will meet in special session Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the Founders Room of the Student Center, SPC Levelland Campus, Levelland, Texas, for the purpose of setting the tax rate for the 2010-11. The South Plains Junior College District conducted a public hearing on August 23, 2010 and will conduct a second public hearing on August 26, 2010 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the College District from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 11.38 percent. The South Plains College Board of Regents approved a resolution setting the tax rate of $0.244230 for fiscal year 2009-10. The effective tax rate for fiscal year 2009-10 was calculated to be $0.244591/$100 valuation. Information regarding this action taken August 13, 2009 is provided below.

Board Vote on Proposed Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2009-10

On August 13, 2009, the South Plains College Board of Regents met in regular session to vote on a proposed ad valorem property tax rate of $0.244230 for fiscal year 2009-10. Regent Bobby Neal made the motion to approve the proposed tax rate and Regent Linda Patton seconded that motion. The result of that vote is as follows:
